National Youth Mela: An Opportunity to Enable Youths in Activism<div style="text-align: justify;">The Second National Youth <em>Mela</em> (Camp) was held at Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchowk from 31 May to 1 June 2008.</div> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"> </span></p> <div style="text-align: justify;">The Mela program hosted by AI Nepal Group 43, Banepa was organized with the objective of acquainting the AI Nepal youth members with Amnesty International and imparting them theoretical and practical knowledge on its campaigns methods and techniques.</div> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"> </span></p> <div style="text-align: justify;">During the two-day program, various indoor session and out-door activities were held. Under the indoor sessions, the participants were introduced to Amnesty International by Geeta Neupane, briefed on the role of youth network in AI campaign by Rameshwar Nepal and on leadership and creative campaigning by Bishnu K.C. of Youth Action Network. Representatives of the Youth Networks also shared their Human Rights Campaigning Experience. Similarly, Bhola Bhattarai made a present on Thematic Networks of Amnesty International and on Campaigning framework and techniques while Rameshwar Nepal briefed the participants on various aspects of Letter Writing, the typical campaigning technique of Amnesty International.</div> Posted on : 31 May 08
